Why is it that we have to have a drinking age? Does it really stop people underage from drinking? The legal drinking age is 21 and it is illegal for people of the age of 21 or older to buy alcohol for minors. Is this really stoping minors from drinking?
Party's are going to happen no matter the age, these days there are kids as little as the age of 12 drinking. The more you tell people they can't do something or have something, the more they want it. I think personally there should be no legal drinking age, however I do still thinkit should be illegal to drink and drive. I am 18 and I have been to many parties were even though I may be the youngest one there I was also way more mature than most of the people of drinking age. No matter the age some people are immature and others are very mature. Why even have a drinking age? Is it going to help anything? To me it is just a way for the government to get more money because they know that there is always going to be underage drinking.
Drinking and driving is wrong in so many levels but even today minors are getting caught and thats all the government wants you to hear about. They don't tell us how many people of drinking age get caught and how many parties they have to bust because of the immaturity and noise levels, which is how most minors get caught. Parting is just a way to have fun and be able to kick back and enjoy. So why should there be a drinking age? No matter how many times people get caught they are going to keep doing it over and over.

True that. I understand what you are saying. I have a friend Annie (you know her), she got a drinking ticket and yet she stills parteis. Probably even harder then she use to. Drinking tickets dont stop anyone. All they do is make you be more careful about how you drink and where you drink. I think if they never had a drinking age to begin with, we would not have as many problems as we use to, but i think if they drop the drinking age, people might take advantage of that. I know I would.
ReplyDeleteKristi, This would be an excellent topic later in the semester when you design your own project.
ReplyDeleteHave you looked at the statistics of alcohol abuse from other countries (Europe) that don't have drinking laws? It's astounding. Why, do you think?
Yeah,
ReplyDeleteStephanie is so right because when I go to Italy kids at the age of eleven are drinking. I am so shocked by the amounts of children that are allowed to drink at this age. It's almost sad to me. I also agree with you, that minors are going to drink whether there is a drinking age or not. I agree that there should not be a drinking age, but if your going to drink be smart about it.
this is a great and strong opinion..A lot of people don't follow the drinking age and they always find a way to drink if they are minors..The government just wants money to make more laws on minors. I know a friend who got busted but yet she still parties..Like you said it doesn't stop them.
ReplyDeleteHey gurl, i do agree with you on you people just realize how many older people get in trouble with drinking.
